February 1st- Imbolc- are you ready?

February 1: 10 to 12 degrees Aquarius; Mercury decan; Aquarius/Gemini.

Feast Day: Imbolc, also called Oimelc, Brighid, or St. Brigit’s Day.

The cards in play include the High Priestess, trump number two and the Page of Pentacles, today overarching the Star trump, the Six of Swords and the King of Cups. The Star trump is assigned the zodiac sign of Aquarius, while the Six of Swords is associated with the Mercury decan of 10 to 20 degrees Aquarius and the King of Cups covers the calendar month of February. Diane Stein describes the Star as Persephone emerging from the pool reborn, purified and cleansed; she “accepts the new order of her own choice.”

Imbolc is celebrated six weeks after the Winter Solstice and six weeks before the Spring Equinox. One of the four cross-quarter fire celebrations of the Celtic world, Imbolc is also known as Oimelc, Brighid, St Brigit’s Eve, Eve of Bride and Brigantia. It is the High Priestess and the Page of Discs that are associated with Imbolc.
